History of brewing in Velké Popovice

This bachelor thesis explores the beginnings of beer brewing industry in the village of Velké Popovice. The crucial part of the thesis dedicated to the brewery is preceded by a brief analysis of the relevant literature. The following section outlines the development of beer brewing since its coming to existence in the global context and in the Czech lands, with special attention dedicated to the crown cities, nobility, the guild system and periods of crisis. The core of the thesis focuses first on the history of Velké Popovice and is continued by the history of the brewery since the first mention of its existence in the 16th century written sources. Then it scrutinizes the historical periods of changing ownership until the founding of the current brewery by František Ringhoffer in 1874. Attention is also paid to the cultural and historical influence of the premonstratensians and the benedictines on the pre-industrial beer brewing, cultural and historical development of the whole estate, as well as their influence on the economic and social structure of the inhabitants.

Ignaz Fr. Platzer's designs of sculptural for the church Annunciation to the Blessed Virgin Mary in Teplá

This work deals with Platzers family, especially with Ignac Frantisek Platzer, from his workshop were preserved an incredible amount of sketches and drawing, for which has not been given sufficient attention so far. Out of a large number of masterpieces conserved in the National Gallery of Prague, will be processed just the part connected with monastery in Teplá where for the church Annunciation to the Blessed Virgin Mary was made a complete sculptural decorations by his workshop. Premonstrat order in Želiv in 40th and 50th years of 20th century

The thesis deals with the Želiv Premonstrate Monastery and the fates of its members in the 1940s and 1950s. The introduction briefly outlines the history of the monastery and the Premonstrate Order. The central part of the thesis deals with the Želiv Monastery as a whole. It describes economic measures that were introduced against it by the Communist regime. It also generally describes the preparations for cancelling monasteries and the progress of this action directly in Želiv. The third part deals with the fate of the Želiv abbot Bohumil Vít Tajovský as well as with the fates of other members of the Želiv Monastery who were oppressed by the Communist regime.
